Petition English version
February 3, 2008
Petition
Friends and companions of Mike Murray, who was murdered by a drunk
member of Prague Metropolitan Police, hereby request, by means of this
email, that the superior authority of the judge, who released this
offender charged with murder from custody, immediately takes measures
for correction of this, in our views incorrect decision. It is hard to
believe that a man, who is supposed to protect lives and property of
others, committed such malicious act, and still, he is not treated as an
offender of a serious offense, and he is at large, permitted the
possibility of influencing the course of the investigation. In
principle, we do not agree with the decision, and we hereby demand an
immediate correction.

Thank you for rendering miss Petricek.

I agree
(Randell D'Arcy, 31. 7. 2008 10:41)The EU should have minimum requirements from member states when it comes to law and order. The officer needs to be secured until a court of law decides the case. I struggle to comprehend why a police officer (off duty or otherwise) would want to carry a knife with him anyway.
MURDERER ON THE LOOSE!
(Tizanji, 30. 7. 2008 21:34)Please put the murderer back in jail, thats where he belongs!

I agree.
The decision to release a person charged with murder under such circumstances is a disgrace to the Czech law system.
I agree
(Sharisse Marks - Australie, 5. 3. 2008 18:16)Czech Republic are deeply perturbed by the present day behavior of the justice authorities (judges, prosecutors and police investigators)

(Unconscionable, 1. 3. 2008 8:31)I find this a miscarriage. When events like this transpire, it is necessary to ensure that justice has its day. I pray that justice is triumphant.

(Amy Fairchild, 28. 2. 2008 16:21)I do hope the Prague police will take this suspect back into custody. I cannot believe that they would release him on his on accord in such a case. I hope all the facts are brought out in this case and true justice is carried out.
What the hell?????
(Katka, 27. 2. 2008 10:04)I thought I got used to see injustice in CZ. Our system is f****d up. BUT WHAT IS THIS???? I cannot believe that people can get away with a murder. I thought we all should be equal all around the world no matter what skin color or nationality we are or job we do, justice should be for everybody the same. Our country presents itself like a country full of thieves, so now we became murderers, who actually get away with it??? I feel personally ashamed and honestly hope the cop will be charged for life in prison and I fully agree with this petition.
How do you know?
(Pavel, 25. 2. 2008 19:37)
that the three requirements weren't fulfilled?
I feel with the relatives and friends of the victim, and want the justice is done.
But I do not think that the way the case is presented here in the discussion helps the justice or anything else, except perhaps those few who can not help themselves and simply abuse this tragedy to show their own self-righteousness.
What a Joke!
(Czech Justice at it's Best, 25. 2. 2008 18:18)
Pavel you are an idiot! In the Western world people do not murder others and then just walk out of jail unless they are bonded by money to appear back in court to face justice. Which usually is price tag of $100000 to $1000000
2nd the Judge in the CZ must meet three requirements in order to release a murder suspect according to Czech law.
1) Defendant can not be able to influence witnesses or be able to tamper with evidense
2) Defendant can not be a threat to others
3) Defendant can not be flight risk
So it is amazing this Czech judge feels that this police scum bag can walk around like a free man and that none of the above three requirements are threatened for due process of justice.
Justice?
(Pavel, 25. 2. 2008 9:52)
There are some strict reasons given by law why can be somebody kept in custody during the investigation. Which particular reason is in place here?
And, mind you, anybody not convicted and sentenced by a court of justice must be seen as innocent by western justice standards.
It is sad how many comments here are quick to condemn Czech justice &c. while ignoring the very standards of justice they verbally praise.
Custody is not punishment. Justice is not revenge.
Agree
(Joanna Safarik, 25. 2. 2008 9:08)I agree. I didnt know this man but no one has the right to take someone's life and this murderer should not be out in the streets.
Prague
(T. Perna and P. Perny, 24. 2. 2008 16:15)We would like justice served in this case and the alleged murderer taken into custody! As Prague residents and citizens this type of person/aggressive policeman should not be serving the public in the name of law. And as I am a paintball player, a fellow paintball player slain by a policeman is tragic.
Elon Musk was right: artifitial intelligence will make new WAR. The "XEvil" was released!
